Menealo
A library manager for your streaming library. Playlists are the output, not the subject.
If you have saved tens of thousands of tracks over the years, Spotify gives you a search box and an endless scroll. Menealo treats that library the way Lightroom treats a photo catalog: ingest it, enrich it, browse it by facet, select what belongs together, and publish the result as a playlist.
Connecting sends you to Spotify's own login. Menealo never sees your password.
What it does
Three things a streaming client does not: remember, narrow, and publish.
Enrichment
Your saved tracks arrive with tags and context Spotify does not surface, so decade, genre and mood become things you can actually filter on rather than things you half-remember.
Publish as a playlist
Selection is the workflow. Stage what belongs together across as many passes as you like, then write it back to Spotify as a real playlist when it's ready.
What it looks like

What Menealo asks Spotify for
- Read your saved tracks and your playlists
- Create and edit playlists on your behalf
- Read and control playback, so tracks can be auditioned in place
- Read your profile, to check for Premium
Authentication is PKCE — there is no client secret, and your tokens live in a single HttpOnly cookie rather than in a database. Menealo stores no passwords and keeps no copy of your account.
Only five people can ever sign in here
That is not a waiting list or a beta. Spotify caps apps in development mode at five authorised users, and the extended quota that lifts the cap has been limited to organisations with 250,000+ monthly users since May 2025. A hobby project cannot qualify, so this instance is permanently capped by policy.
If you are not one of the five, signing in will fail on Spotify's side — so it is fairer to say it here than to let you find out as an error code. Run your own instance with your own Spotify client ID and the cap becomes yours to spend. A guided setup path is in progress (#76).
